Very nice touches, like christmas crackers on the bed. Great breakfast range, lots of fruit, juices, yogurts and cooked english also. Fridge in our room was great for wine and we had fresh milk each day along with mineral water. Typically Torquay, but that isn't a bad thing, and its nice to see something done so well. We thought this was excellent bed and breakfast accommodation. The proprietors were very friendly and helpful, the room was large and well decorated and the bed enormous and comfortable. The LCD screen TV with freeview provided a much better picture than is normal in hotel rooms and the DVD recorder/player was a useful bonus. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. We normally book four star hotels but when we booked, there wasn't a huge choice with two rooms available (we were travelling with friends) it being Bank Holiday week. We were a bit dubious about booking a two star hotel but The Carlton Court gets full marks and deserves to be upgraded. The rooms were beatiful with excellent facilities and even free internet access! The breakfasts were lovely and couldn't be faulted. The owners were very friendly and helpful without being over the top and too fussy. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay, and would recommend The Carlton Court Hotel to anyone. (3305113857)

Not really a dislike since there was entertainement close by and places to eat very convenient. The harbour is 20 minutes walk away easy walking...it would have been perfect to have been slightly closer; Perhaps we are a bit lazy though!

The Carlton Court Hotel accommodation is of excellent value for money and more. It is situated close to all the local amenities of Torquay and the town. Had an excellent view of the garden. the room had chanderlier lighting with dimmers above the bed. Fresh milk in the fridge every day with tea and coffee making facilities and a safe. Lovely warm welcome from Hazel and Pierre. Our room was furnished comfortably, with some nice touches - bathrobes, tissues, toiletries. A good sized bedroom and en-suite, tastefully decorated. A well-cooked breakfast was served in the very pleasant downstairs restaurant (a very low ceiling on the staircase!). The Carlton Court is a small, spotlessly clean, very friendly hotel. Gerry & Sue made us feel very welcome during our stay, the rooms are furnished to a high standard, the bathroom floor was even heated!! We loved the wall mounted LCD TV's very groovy!! We also liked the fact it was a completely non smoking hotel as neither myself or my partner smoke indeed we hate the smell, so that was a very refreshing change. The welcoming atmosphere created by the owners Gerry and Sue. If only the hotel industry was full of these two people it would make staying away from home a much more pleasant, relaxing and inviting experience. Their attention to detail surpassed even the most worlwide chain of hotels I have stayed in over my lefetime (and that is not me being fluffy). I usually stay in big chains like the Radisson/Hyatt/Crowne as I know what I am paying for and getting and was a bit disappointed when i couldnt get a similar quality hotel in Torquay. I went on the internet and this was the only hotel I found at the time to be available and within close distance to the Riviera Centre. I booked it and prayed. Well Lady luck must have heard me, because i was gobsmacked when I entered and met the couple. it felt homely in a welcoming sense. Privacy offered, respect mutual and the extrs provided to make you not want to leave. I have laready told people at work and friends of the hospitality I recieved and when next i am down that way or friends of friends, I think Sue and Gerry better build an extension to their property. AMAZING! They even gave their residents an Easter card and lindt chocolate rabbit - now tell me which big chain is that hostpitable?? (3304353413)
