positive comments Friendly bar staff. Good reception
negative comments Room very hot. Low roof outside window meant not suitable for leaving window open. Not good idea for single female guest.

Disappointed with general standard of hotel for the price paid. (97466937)

negative comments 1. Staff command of English in some cases not good 2. Staff level of customer service unsatisfactory 3. Hotel offered room service but breakfast ordered arrived half hour late - too late - and in any case was missing at least half of items ordered! Second morning it arrived 20 minutes early when I was in the shower! 4. Hotel rooms very warm - no air conditioning 5. Beds uncomfortable: mattresses need replacing and sheets barely fitted properly

If the room hadn't smelt I would have rated my stay 'very good'. (97030745)

positive comments Price was affordable and staff were pleasant.
negative comments Bathroom smelt very strongly of urine (or drains?) and the hot tap at the sink did not work properly. The bed was hard and could have done with a mattress cover underneath the bedsheet.

Apart from the disappointing breakfast - I left the room hungry - all my needs were met. I enjoyed my stay and would come again. (97690697)

positive comments Suited my needs - the room and bathroom were warm and comfortable. Reception were quick to order me a taxi which arrived 10 minutes early, which was better than late!
negative comments The Continental breakfast was a huge disapointment. The waiter in charge was unsmiling and disinterested. At first only small rolls were on offer. These were dry and uneatable. When some croissants appeared they were flat, cold and equally uneatable. No-one came to ask how things were.

The main thing which could prevent me for staying longer than one night is the matress: I found it to soft, like in most British hotels. The heating during the winter night was also not adequate. The room service menu might have improved --- the tray charge practically doubled the charge of menu items. But overall very good indeed. (97678107)

positive comments cleanliness, price, location.
negative comments bed too soft; closure of restaurant too early --- 'tray charge'. Room too cold especially at night.

Good accomodation & clean, a little disappointed at breakfast where tea is in a thermos flask, this means it is stewed also no choice of full or semi skimmed milk. (99384159)

positive comments Close to parks, transport & free parking
negative comments Not being told at reception about opening a credit account for bar & restaurant

Everything was perfect for the overnight stay - comfy bed, good shower and great location for our visit to Wembley Stadium for Metallica. We were allowed to leave luggage at the hotel in the morning (before check in time), allowing us to return at midnight to check in and have a well earned sleep!! Didn't experience the food or bar areas so can't comment on them, but for a simple overnight stay I would definetly recommend it and visit again. (99899588)

I was stopped by some young French people looking for an hotel in the area and I recommended the Britannia where they did get rooms. (99481702)

positive comments The accommodation was fine as was the rest of the hotel.
negative comments Not really a dislike, but there was no flex for kettle in room, and although it was mentioned to reception staff nothing was done about it so I was unable to use kettle throughout stay. Also I did not think much of the dry white wine from the bar and found it a rather inferior quality.

I found the hotel generally to be very good , the room was spacious and comfortbale and the location was pleasant and quiet, yet still accessible to tube transport and buses. The only real criticism was that the room was little bit dusty but general cleanliness was good. There were coffee and tea facilities however these did not include any herbal teas and there were only enough for two cups each . We did not have breakfast as I felt was a little overpriced so we had breakfast at local cafe not far from the hotel. (99185910)

positive comments It was very resonably priced and the location was really good for access to the tube and buses. The room was spacious and had a settee which was nice
negative comments The room was a bit dusty and there was not very many tea bags /coffee put out, also I though the breakfasts were a bit too expensive

Nice old hotel, needs a once over in the decor dept. Seemed to be understaffed while I was there, had to wait too long to check in, for room service (Food was good when it eventually arrived though) and to check out. Rooms need some new furniture, especially the beds. (99073633)

positive comments Good location, easy parking.
negative comments Awful room service (50 mins for a cheese sandwich and a burger is excessive) Toilet would not flush properly.

The hotel was quite easy to get to coming from north of London and was cheaper and in a quieter area than the Central London hotelsthat I have stayed in.Parking was adequate:we took the last place in the car park.Mostly the staff were helpful although as we didn't take breakfast there I don't know what the waiting staff were like. The room was clean although smelt slightly of cigarettes although it was non-smoking.I liked the traditional feel of the room and the decor was clean. The bathroom facilities were also clean and free soap and shampoo was provided.Tea and coffee facilities were provided. (99767094)

positive comments I liked the cosiness of the room it was comfortable but traditional
negative comments the view of the tower block opposite

positive comments it was quiet, and the location wasn't bad for the area we travelled the most to.
negative comments the staff were curt, rude, usually asleep with the phone off the hook during business hours, and despite paying for a large room, we were given a tiny space.

We booked this hotel as it was close to Lord's cricket ground, Primrose Hill and Swiss Cottage, and becuase it was inexpensive. We did not eat in so cannot comment on the restaurant. We did not spend a comfortable night due to the ancient mattress and hot room. We did manage to park in the small car park to the rear which was helpful, but visitors should be aware that it has only about 10 spaces, most suitable only for small cars. Ths reception staff were pleasant if, in the morning, a little stressed. (3304483871)

positive comments Cheap and well sited for Lord's Cricket Ground.
negative comments Ancient mattresses; radiator that could not be turned off; slow draining basin (needs unblocking); shabby stairs and 1st floor corridor.

The online site priceline.co.uk gave excellent info on the hotel, and the reviews were accurate and helpful. (3304083554)

positive comments Had wheelchair access (tho we weren't in a chair). Great location.
negative comments Hotel overall was quite smoky. Barbaric really. Not the hotel's fault but London's for not invoking a smoking ban on all indoor spaces.

It would have been usefule to have directions from the local tube stations. (3304049817)

positive comments The location was excellent.
negative comments There is a general need for updating the rooms. We also found the room far too hot and were unable to turn the radiator down.
