Arundel House Hotel

We would have liked a room overlooking the river and will know next time to request one. Although we did not use the restaurant we have a copy of the restaurant menu and on our next visit look forward to dining there. We particularly liked the conservatory where we enjoyed a snack on arrival and breakfast. (97633804)

I thought the location was excellent and that more could be made of this in the advertising. The menus we saw before we came were helpful in choosing to eat in the hotel. We found the food at dinner excellent value and very good indeed. (99946560)

We were impressed by the overall condition of the hotel and thought it very good for 3*. An ongoing refurb programme suggests that it'll be even better next time! The retaurant floor is particularly nice with lovely curtains and carpets and magnificent toilet facilities.

It annoyed me that the remote control provided with the TV could not be used to turn it on and off. Also, I would have liked access to teletext for news updates.

There were two people in reception who couldn't work independently so that we were left waiting whilst they both tried to sort out someone else. Being completely ignored is not a pleasant experience and eventually we gave up! The decor is hideous throughout the hotel. The restaurant was reasonably good although I thought that the wine was overpriced. (99960597)

A pleasant walk nearby

Good hotel well placed for visiting the centre of Cambridge with an easy walk into the city centre. Enjoyable breakfast, set us up for the day. Good car park in a city which has difficult parking facilities. We will come back to this hotel again. (99888603)

Restaurant facilities are good; the food was good, both at dinner and breakfast. The hotel is well placed for visits to Cambridge, for sightseeing. (99838147)

The reception staff were welcoming, courteous and helpful. My room was comfortable and quiet.

Double bed had a plastic undersheet and sheets which were too small so was uncomfortable as we were used to a king. No alternative room was available. Hotel had no lifts and we were not offered any help to get luggage up three flights of stairs. Old fashioned sash window was difficult to open and close. Dining room staff were friendly but appeared undertrained and made many mistakes. We could not get an evening meal in the restaurant, even though it was less than half full. We were told there were not enouygh clean tablecloths! (99767215)

This is a pleasant, well-located hotel - near enough the centre of Cambridge to walk there, but with lots of free car parking space. The staff were very flexible - giving us somewhere to store our luggage before check-in; bringing an ice-bucket to our room as soon as requested etc. The conservatory was a pleasant place to meet for drinks as well. Only slight problem we had was our waiter at breakfast, who didn't seem to know very much English and as a consequence kept bringing us the wrong orders. Food was good though. (3304675828)

We enjoyed our stay and found the staff friendly and welcoming. The room was big enough.The bed was just big enough for us but taller, bigger people would have found this a problem. If there are rooms with bigger beds it would help to have a choice shown. The times of breakfast and leaving the rooms was too confusing, it differed depending on what piece of paper you read.
