A good location if you just want a bed to crash in so you can explore Bath but really not that good and not that cheap either (£85/night). (97602414)

positive comments location
negative comments Small room, poorly decorated and in need of redecorating, no air conditioning, no toilettries in the bathroom except 5 bars of soap, noisy, paper thin walls, poor shower (no power)

For a hotel to 'put your heads down' it is ok. Certainly not one you would go for an experience. We enjoyed Bath tremendously. (108077832)

positive comments The location of the hotel is excellent. Walking distance to everything. Staff were very courteous and helpful.
negative comments The hotel is very tired in all areas except for the dining room. Breakfast was pretty poor standard.

The minimal decor blemish should not detract from an efficiently-run hotel where the young members of staff were mindful of the need to impress the paying guest. The ample breakfast was excellent and the provision of toiletries and drinking facilities were certainly in excess of what we expected for the reasonably priced experience. Well done Redcar. (97734492)

positive comments Attentive and helpful staff
negative comments Room was in need of some redecoration, particularly on the ceiling where the ceiling paper was falling down

Room - dated and a bit shabby. Basic acommodation, but would try to find somewhere else to stay first before returning. (97703090)

positive comments Central to the city
negative comments Bit rough around the edges. Breakfast not served til 8am - not much good when you are on business and need to be gone before then!

It would have been nice if we would have known that some rooms were not updated to the standards we would expect.Even it was a special offer,I feel we still paid too much.Breakfast wasn't special, missed some fresh fruit and yoghurts.Again,I was very impressed by the approach of all the staff, they were very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to others,at the moment, but I would consider to go back in the future to see if it has been updated. (97040940)

The location of this hotel is very good, only five minutes stroll from the shops and central Bath. Parking is a nightmare in bath so it was refreshing to find a hotel with a carpark, if it was a little cramped. The loby area of the RedCar is charming and very well maintained with nice features. The downstairs room we stayed in was dated and clearly needed some attention. Overall this hotel has potential to be outsanding in ever manor, the location is good, the staff friendly and the cost is reasonable. However the rooms NEED to be updated desperatly. (97644254)

positive comments The four-poster bed was comfortable and the period fireplace was charming. The Overall hotel decore wash was lovely with some nice period features.
negative comments The bathroom was in dire need of renovation, the lack of electrial lighting became tiresome and the breakfast was sub standed by any paying guests standard.

It was very easy to book, and the only thing I had to enquire about was whether there was a lift as we just could not bear any more steps. Breakfast and general facilities were good, price in our range, convenient room and staff friendly and helpful. (97543501)

positive comments It was convenient, roomy, clean, and had all facilities available
negative comments The floor in the bathroom definitely needs replacement, loose and cracked tiles were dangerous

The hotel is very centrall to walk into Bath. It was good to park the car and then not use it again for the next two days. The Spa was excellant. I would like to know which hotels follow an enviromentally friendly ethos. The towels don't have to be cleaned every day altough a tidy up is nice. Give the customer choice on weather to have the room totally cleaned every day. It would save on resources. Also, is food sourced locallly. Even though the choice for breakfast was wide most things butter, jams sugar etc were in small packages. (97057752)

positive comments The Staff were helpful and friendly and tried thier best to give advice on walks and bike rides. Cycling along canal lovley and easy and plenty of places to stop on the way. Also close to walk along the river. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Very close to centre of Bath but quiet so easy to sleep. Parking ample.
negative comments The rooms felt rather tatty. There was a rip in the top cover of the bed, no extractor fan in the bathroom, no hot water in the shower. The loud noise of the piano playing over the speakers.

The staff on duty were excellent and very forthcoming with information on the area. The breakfast was excellent with a very wide choice on offer. Check out was very quick and efficient. The staff are a credit to the hotel. It is not often that one seeks to leave hotel staff tips but on this occasion we made an exception because of the very high standard of care shown by the staff. (99731114)

positive comments Extremely comfortable bed
negative comments Shower and bathroom. Shower had curtain that done very little to contain splashing into the rest of the bathroom and toilet seat was broken

Was concerned after reading previous guest comments but found the hotel to be friendly and accommodation adequate for our needs. Breakfast was plentiful and staffing was good. Did not use bar or restaurant facility as Bath has so much to offer and stay was only for 1 night. (99719755)

The Hotel was easy to book and easy to find from the train station. Rooms are very basic and not flash but have everthing you need for a short stay. Breakfast basic but good. Staff were very friendly and helpful which is a nice introduction to your stay at check-in. Would be awkward carrying big bags up to the third floor without a lift. (99363430)

positive comments Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel easy to find and close to the town centre.
negative comments Rooms were basic and, without a lift, carrying bags up to the 3rd floor could be awkward.

This is an unfussy hotel which is not fancy but gives good value for money. Every thing was clean and functional and we found it to be a good place to explore Bath and the surrounding area from. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. The car park at the rear of the hotel is quite small. (99839802)

positive comments Close to the city centre, very friendly staff.
negative comments very creaky floor boards!

This hotel is good value for money and very well situated for visitors wanting to spend a couple of days walking round the lovely city of Bath. For this price (we paid £142 for a double room for 2 nights in April) you can't expect a lot in a tourist hot spot, so we wern't surprised to find it was rather run down and the staff a bit lacklustre, though they were polite. (99503489)

positive comments excellent location in the centre of Bath
negative comments generally shabby, not terribly clean. staff somewhat offhand.

Well placed in the centre of the town. The office staff were welcoming and polite. The room was not well presented, and clearly poorly maintained. Linen and towels were very good. The reception staff were polite and welcoming. (99809704)

positive comments Its position in the town.
negative comments The room was not was not well cleaned - very dusty, dirt marks on units, smeared mirrors

With the large discount in price the hotel was still overpriced. The room was single sized with a double bed squeezed in. there was no wardrobe but a hanging rail had been carefully place in front of the only mirror. The 14 TV was stood on an old coffee table 12 below the bottom of the bed. To plug in the hair drier you had to crawl on the floor under the desk, luckily we are only 5'6 any taller and the lead would not have reached our heads! Private parking (as advertised) is almost non-existant and imposible to use unless you have a small car. (99574182)

positive comments The water was warm & the staff were pleasant
negative comments Everything else

Robert from Crewe, GB (Mature couple) 11 April 2007

The hotel was in a location convenient for many of the attactions, and you could reach most of these on foot. The hotel car park is rather small (about 10-15 cars) and parking elsewhere is a problem. The hotel is only B&B but the buffet breakfast means you can eat as much or little as you wish. (99999099)

positive comments It was in a convenient location, clean & with the special Easter offer, provided good value for money.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Bath in a great location with friendly staff and don't mind the general decor and upkeep being a little outdated then Redcar is perfect. (99377981)

positive comments Very central. Reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and acommodated our hens party well.
negative comments Downstairs tioliets were a bit dodgy. Breakfast wasn't great.
