not very efficient staff for breakfast at the restaurant. Not very helpful when arriving in the first morning i.e no one indicating where to sit when there is a sign telling to wait.

I think we had sufficient information before booking and there was no nasty surprise on arrival. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and for an overnight stay we could not fault the hotel. If we were staying at a hotel longer I would always select one with a swimming pool, but this was not a criteria on this occasion. (97127492)

Sometimes in the restaurant there were no salt or pepper on the tables. any of the tables

although the hotel itself was clean, cheerful and central and good value for money and we were refunded in full, unfortunately fellow guests were intolerable and no sleep or peace was had all night. Bed far too small and covers likewise so fairly uncomfortable in bed. Maintenance badly needed on shower and taps. Would not recommend it unfortunately because of noise otherwise if shower had worked would have been happy with economical priced accommodation. (97232255)

Would very happily stay at the Rutland again, and would recommend it to family and friends. Good central location and parking available which is a major issue in a city centre. We were particularly pleased with the helpfulness of staff, even though they appeared to be doing many jobs at once, eg dining room waitress also covering the bar, which meant you had to wait a little in both areas to be served. Excellent room for a short stay; perhaps a little too small for a week or more. Very warm, but had the facility of air conditioning and the windows opened!!

Bathroom needs updating - mold along tiles and along edge of bath pretty unsightly. Annoying that we couldnt turn off bedside light whilst in bed (or did we miss some secret mechanism?. Towels a little like boards but plentiful and clean.

A great hotel in a prime location. Our room was spacious,stylish and clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The reception, bar and restaurant were modern and welcoming and the breakfast good. We booked on-line and this hotel proved to be excellent value. (99911535)

Pleasant accommodation, friendly staff, proximity to the castle and the city centre. When I pointed out the problems with the bathroom the staff member was positive about thanking me and saying they would put it right.

Maintenance in the bathroom is an issue. The decorative top of the tap in the wash hand basin wasn't attached and the shower head was permanently pointing at the taps and couldn't be adjusted. When you tried it promptly fell into the bath!

In general the hotel was not as nice as I anticipated, the rooms was small and dirty and when we went down for breakfast the next day the plates were dirty. On the whole I was extremely dissapointed and if we would have paid the full price for the room I would probably refused to pay. (99614799)

The bed was really comfy. Room was clean and bright. Lift worked well and there was not a long wait. Layout of Breakfast area. The receptionist was really helpful and the staff were great.

Conveniently located for city centre, however room very small, bathroom needed some attention, ie shower did not work properly, handle of basin tap missing, mouldy black tile grout, inadequate toiletries. If you go to this hotel do not use AA route finder as it is wrong.Use the hotel car park at £5 its a lot cheaper than the multi storey next door. We enjoyed an exelent night . We had a couple of relaxing drinks in the lounge before walking fifty mts to the first of many good pubs and onto a concert (10 mins walk away at rock city).The room was basic but very clean. Overall, everything was fine. One small irritation was that there was no warning in anything I saw, nor when we arrived and checked in, that there would be a charge for parking, so I was taken by surprise when a parking charge was added to my bill when I checked out. I did not mind paying, but the fact that there would be a charge, and what it would be, should be clearly explained somewhere. Another was that the entrance to the hotel is NOT to be found at the address given for it in the website, but is in fact hidden away in the square behind and quite hard to spot unless you know where to look. This cost us time and trouble. we should surely be able to rely on the hotel being exactly where our booking information says it is! (99197372)

This is a well situated hotel with friendly staff and good accomodation.We ate in the hotel and enjoyed the attentive staff and good food and this was our 3rd visit as we have been satisfied in the past.The addition of car-parking is also welcomed.At a previous visit here in May my room smelt of stale smoke and when booking on-line it is not guaranteed that you will get a non-smoking room.Overall we were very satisfied and would book again. As vegetarians we enjoy eating fresh food i.e. friut, not tinned or packaged, which was the case at breakfast.

I was dissappointed that room service and drinks after 11.00pm had to be paid for on each order becuase I paid for the stay with a debit card. As someone who only occassionally uses credit cards I think that debit card facilities could be improved in order that extras can be paid with the final bill on checkout. (3304357626)

Comfortable room and bed.The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Breakfast service. Noise reduction - the noise from the streets in the early hours of the morning was unacceptable and whilst I understand the hotel cannot be held responsible for the loutish behaviour of the general public I think improvements should be made to noise suppression in the rooms.

Excellent location. Attractive frontage,facade and reception area. Car park good value. Breakfast very good. Staff helpful. Sadly, the room we stayed in (for one night)rather let the hotel down. It was small (cosy?!), cold(one small heater in room with 2 windows)and furnishings were tatty (worn carpet, split in bath, bedside cupboard doors half off, only one chair for 2 guests). Overall, the hotel was good value for money. It is in an excellent location for the city centre : the room was clean, and adequate for a simple one night stay. The breakfast was included in the rate, and again was adequate given the price. As always, you get what you pay for. If you want a luxury hotel, this is not it. The double bed was rather small, and cramped space on one side. It probably would have been better if I had booked a room with 2 single beds.My wife couldn't use the hair-dryer satisfactorily, given it's placement in the drawer, and no convenient mirror.
