The rooms were an excellent standard and very clean.

We found the reception staff to be less than helpful. We enquired about the cost of the car park but found that the staff were to busy to help us. We also asked them to book us a taxi but after half an hour of waiting in the reception area found out that they had not booked us one. Once they finally did (after asking 2 more times) we had already missed our booking at the place we were going to.

Diabolical to say the room was advertised at £105.00 per night, the room was nothing like the modern room advertised on any website. The broken shower was reported but nothing was done about it. (97281157)

Shower didn't work. Curtains were hanging off rail. Room was dirty. Other residents were kicking the door at 4.30am.

It was close to the train station and heart of Nottingham

the shower was not adjustable and seemed to be designed for a person 4 foot in height. The bar staff did not appear to know what they were doing, serving brandy in a tumbler, when they had brandy glasses on the shelf next to the bottles of brandy.

The package represented fair value for money, given that it included bed, breakfast and dinner. The first room I checked into had water coming in just above the window, but I was immediately given another room. The staff were courteous and the restaurant staff were particularly welcoming. The standard of food was acceptable most days except one and there was plenty of it. The noise from what I assume was the heating was a problem at night. Overall the hotel had an air of having seen better days. The room was well equipped but a little worn at the edges (literally). For a business trip, this was fine - and it felt safe, which as a solo traveller I consider important - but it is not a hotel I would use for leisure.In fairness, with the exception of the problem with the lock, I didn't report my concerns to the staff and so they didn't have a chance to put things such as the lights and towel rail right. The room was spacious and well equipped. The restaurant staff were friendly. I liked the fact that a jug of iced water was provided for each meal.

The swipe card for the door was unreliable. On three occasions I was unable to get into the room at all and had to go back down to reception for help. There was no mirror in the room or bathroom with adequate lighting for doing make-up. The noise from the heating ( even though I'd turned it off in my room) was constant throughout the night. The heated towel rail wasn't working. The bathroom was clean but the bath sealant was discoloured by mould in places.

my husband and i stayed at the hotel in september this year for a week and we had a great time the only thing i could complain about was the double room was a bit small for two people staying for a week and it was very warm the food was okay but we still will go back again as you only get what yo9u pay for and we would recommend it to anyone we read bad reports and i wondered if we had got the wrong hotel (97487117)

i was most impressed with the twin room my friend had it was big and bright and had two double beds and two bathrooms what more could we have asked for

Everything was perfect about the booking. I did it months in advance and was a little worried as it was my first internet expierience with no verbal correspondance. Called the night before and everything was organised and arranged. Excellent! With thanks Angie lu. I felt sorry for the receptionist as he was accepting rude behavior from a guest and still held it together and provided excellent customer skills despite a massive demand from the queue of us waiting. Sad but. was glad of the availability of a smoking room as soom of us still do. It is appreciated that the hotel will acccept it.

Quiet, coffee facilities

Would like to have known more about the evening meal times. 6.30 is too late - we had to be at the theatre for 7.30 so it was a bit of a rush. The meal was disappointing - the soup was good and so the puddings - but the main courses were very poor. The dishes should have been labelled - didnt know what the dishes contained. There seemed to be no waiter service at all. Nice to get a jug of water, but never asked if we wanted any other kind of drinks. Manager very cheerful and obliging. (97835781)

Not being able to use electron card, it caused a lot of unnecessary stress also having to pay every day for parking

Inadequate information about where to park. having turned up the James St car park was full I parked in other multi storey and phoned reception who said that ok ,on leaving I was told couldnt validate ticket cost me £13.50 may as well stayed in more expensive hotel. nice atmosphere

my room was very close to the elevator, had problems with sleeping during the night coz of that ! The room was pretty chilly between the hours of 9 pm till around 1 am that i went to bed. I had to work and it was not comfortable at all......

I would have liked to have seen a proper view of the rooms as they weren't liked the picture. The reception area and bar was the cleanest rooms in the hotel. Location was it was fine. There was a nice pub round the corner called the castle where you could get a drink and sit outside.There was also a gorgeous Indian restaurant called Eastern Spice, the staff were lovely and the food was delicious. The room was a decent size.

Very poor cleanliness with regards to the bathroom.Very old and dated. There was a fridge in the room that didn't work so what was the point of having it !

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone - pay the extra cash and stay in one of the other chain of hotels over the road. Although the location was good, it was marred by the tardiness of the staff and the scruffiness of the hotel. (99061774)

The Room was perfectly adequate for one night, more than that its a tight squeeze. But don't expect (when you book online) for your requests to be honoured at all. They confessed they don't even read the comments.

The attitude of the staff stinks, they say sorry so flippantly - its like they are so used to saying sorry - its doesn't mean a thing - its just another word to them!

Non-smoking room was smokey. Walls are paper thin. Buffet dinner was bad. The bar is amazingly dated. Executive room was far from 'executive' standard.

Quality of spaces - both layout and finishes - of the reception, bar and restaurant. The rooms although well designed are beginning to look a bit tatty and carpets show all the marks, shower/bath area has mold. The fridge in the room is a great idea but for what? Fresh milk would have been possible rather than UHT... Did not expect to have to pay for room service with cash and room up front as I only had a direct debit card. (99701077)

The hotel is in need of refurbishment. The carpet in the bedroom and the sofa were stained, the lamps did not work We opted for dinner, bed and breakfast. At dinner the restaurant was deserted and we waited for 10 minutes before a waitress appeared. She took our wine order but by the time it arrived we had virtually finished our meal, luckily the meal was self service! Breakfast faired little better when the only time the waiter spoke to us was to sign for the meal. I know you get what you pay for but good manners and a pleasant attitude costs nothing. (99249658)
