Location in
city square, excellent furnishing; good free refreshments in room; and excellent staff.

Parking cost. Would like
breakfast to be part of the short stay deal.

A very enjoyable hotel from the comfortable and well-appointed room (with complimentary fresh fruit as well as tea & coffee)to the excellent food. Our tv was not working but staff quickly and willingly fixed it.Excellent and frendly service throughout.
Only probem was the lack of an openable wndow . I dislike double glazing . Air conditioning is no substitute for fresh air. (97798713)

Could not open windows - double glazing. Awoke in the night feeling airless.

This is modern high quality hotel where the rooms were very comfortable and breakfast was adequate (some muesli would have been nice!. I would have liked to be assured or a carpark space. (99539379)

The rooms were
comfortable and to a high standard of
modern decor
Ann from Coventry, GB (Group of work colleagues) 14 July 2007

We enjoywed our stay at this hotel. It was a in good location with easy access to shopping and entertainment centers. The staff were knowledgeabnle and helpful. We found the one evening meal we had in the hotel to be excellent. We would certainly stay there again. (99756248)

This was an excellent boutique hotel with a
friendly and
helpful staff.

The first room we were shown was very
small but then we were given a larger room. It was very well appointed with all the usual amentites plus CD and
DVD players.

Polite, friendly and attentive staff. Nice comfortable room. Attractive and quiet location but in easy reach of town (few minutes walk to shops, restaurants etc.) Fruit, fresh coffee & cafetiere provided in room which was nice. (99649062)
Clean,
comfortable and neatly furnished room.

Room was very hot and there is no air-con. Fortunately I was on 4th floor and the
area is
quiet, so I was able to leave the window open all the time.
Clair from Chippenham, GB (Mature couple) 31 May 2007
The staff were all very friendly and efficient. The facilities were excellent. The decor was comfortable, relaxing, attractive and quirkily interesting. The information about forthcoming events (jazz & poetry nights) was appealing. The breakfast was excellent and quickly served & the restaurant atmosphere delightfully relaxing. We only live 25 miles away, so have little need of a hotel so close - but we already want to find an excuse to come back. (99918813)

The room was very
comfortable & well-equipped with thoughtful extras(extensive drinks selection, cafetierre,
sherry,
fresh fruit, CD/
DVD player, note-pad by the phone). The heating control worked!

The window wouldn't open far enough!

It was a pleasure to stay in a hotel where staff took their time to treat each guest as a human being - service without servility. Small touches such as good coffee and fresh fruit in the room were welcome. Hearing the staff laughing suggested a happy establishment (99529862)
Corrina from Peterborough, GB (Solo business traveller) 04 May 2007
Overall my stay was lovely - a beautiful location and premises. I would like to have known the garage was a bit of a walk across the square and perhaps been offered help to carry my suitcase from there. The food was excellent although a limited range on the menu - about 4 fish dishes, 1 pork, 1 duck (chinese style) but no chicken or beef. Good range of wines though. (99986854)

Beautiful, elegant old building with striking, colourful
modern interior. Very individual, especially the
food. Good choices of breakfasts. Enjoyed the
fresh fruit on arrival in my room & the
complimentary sherry before going down to dinner. Staff quietly professional and warm. Pleasant
atmosphere. Felt very at home, safe and
comfortable as a woman travelling as an individual. Car secure overnight in lock up garage, giving peace of mind. I would stay there again & recommend it highly to others.

On Friday night, the loud
music untill 1am. Although a non-threatening
noise it made sleep impossible, especially it was loud enough to be felt physically. Perhaps the licence for this is unsuitable for such a residential
area?

Wendy from Stroud, GB (Mature couple) 14 March 2007
The bedroom was very cramped and the hairdryer was positioned nowhere near a mirror - the wall mirror had to be removed and positioned near to it. Good food, excellent breakfast and a nice atmosphere. (99150258)

Proximity to centre of
Bristol
The
bathroom really let down the accomodation - could definately do with re vamping - holes in ceiling, missing grout between tiles etc
andrew from heckmondwike, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 14 February 2007
Adequate sums up my experience. The basement room was noisey owing to the nearby bar facilities, The heating thermostat was broken, but the staff response was helpful-instant provision of an adjustable spanner for the radiator valve. The shower head was broken, and there was no hot water at the sink. The room was clean, and the facilities very good. No radio-disappointing, that. Helpful, polite staff. (99053309)

The convenient
central location.

The
basement position-i asked for a light, airy
location with views; I couldn't have had more opposite. Was my request even considered? No alternative available on the day.

Wendy from Oxford, United Kingdom;GB (Solo business traveller) 16 January 2007
The decor in the hotel, the friendliness of the staff and the relative quietness of the square made the stay very enjoyable. I think next time I would book a larger room as the single I had was a bit cramped. (99475232)

The hotel is beautifully and artistically decorated

The shape of my room, long and thin, made it
feel a bit cramped and more light would have been good
Anonymous (Family with older children) 08 January 2007
It's got a good boutique feel to it, and was comfortable and met our needs for a very brief stay. We'dhave liked to try the restaurant, but it was closed for the Chrsitmas period. There was a fire alarm at 7.30am. These things happen: should have been better handled, though. No information given to guests: we just stood around in the lounge/reception and waited for the fire brigade. (99108362)

Elegant building, though the conversion to hotel seems to have lost much of the elegance of the original. The double room was compact but very
comfortable.

Narrow, tight stairs, tiny lift. Just the one lounge: no other sitting
area.

I had a good deal as I presume that the price I paid was a late deal. Staff were helpful and polite, though I must state that the garage was very poor as I culd find no lighting to see with after I parked my car especially when I tried to leave the garage as I was unable at first to find the unit on the wall to enter in the code. The birds also left some calling cards on the paintwork. (99668493)

There are new carpets in the rooms(mine anyway) and it was
clean.

Starting to look as if the hotel is due a refit (or is it part way through one?), as the door frames, on-suite
area and the general
decor looked tired.

Good room amenities (TV,
DVD, Hi Fi)

Room cleanliness was poor. The bed spread was soiled and stained, there was candle wax spilt on the sofa and the
bathroom blind had a substantial amount of mildew on it. Also, the
bathroom was on the
small size and surfaces looked slightly dated.

A friendly and welcoming team at an hotel that is centrally located and am ideal base from which to visit the city on foot. Bristol is very well served by a wide variety of good quality places to eat so make the most of a visit and eat out. (99876312)

An excellent
location and premises.
Bristol has a
great deal to offer and the position of this hotel allows easy access to the majority of the
city. The staff were
friendly,
helpful and efficient and attentive without being intrusive.

Sadly the standard of
food served in the restuarant did not reach the overall standard of the hotel. The menu offered a number of interesting options but sadly the actual
food did not match up. In their defence the staff were concerned,
helpful and apologetic.

A lovely hotel with friendly staff situated in a quiet old English square overlooking a small park. The smell of blossom on the breeze was heavenly and although my room would have benefitted from air conditioning my stay was most enjoyable. I would certainly use this hotel again if I visit Bristol in the future. (3305004334)

I found the hotel
quiet and peaceful. Overlooking a park my room had a
lovely view over
Bristol. Staff were
friendly and
helpful.

The room was very hot and would have benefitted from air conditioning. I was provided with a fan which helped somewhat. I was disappointed that the only TV channels which had good
reception were Sky Sports and Sky News. None of the terrestrial channels were clear enough to watch. I would have liked decaffienated
tea which was requested prior to my stay but not provided. There were, however a selection of herbal teas and chocolate, together with
fresh coffee and
tea for those who can drink caffiene.
Amanda from Yate, United Kingdom;GB (Young couple) 20 July 2006

We were given a

Young and pleasant staff but a little lacking in clear information for the guest. Became a bit of an initative test to find the room / garaging etc. Also not forwarned before arrival that the restaurant would be closed that evening with a function, leaving us to look for a place to eat. Excellent breakfast but expensive at £14 per person. (3304976966)
